Our Story

CareDale was founded by IIT Kharagpur students, who themselves faced terrible hair fall, aggravated psoriasis and rosacea due to hard water.

We’re Roshni and Duhita—friends turned co-founders who came to Bangalore for their jobs in 2023 after graduating from IIT Kharagpur. CareDale was born from our shared struggle with hard water and its impacts - hairfall & psoriasis.

Our mission? To ensure no one faces the same challenges we did.

Roshni's Story

"In 2022, I came to Bangalore for my internship and encountered something I’d never seen before—people in my PG were using RO water for bathing. Filtering drinking water made sense, but for bathing? It felt so unusual.

At the time, I thought hair fall was solely about genetics, diet, stress, or the wrong products. It never crossed my mind that water could be the problem. But during my stay, hard water became impossible to ignore. Hair clumps in the drain became a heartbreaking daily sight.

Fast forward to 2023, when I shifted to Bangalore for my job, Duhita shared a similar problem. Her psoriasis was also aggravated by hard water. That’s when it clicked—we couldn’t be alone in this struggle."

Duhita's Story

"I’ve been living with psoriasis for 10 years. It’s a chronic condition that causes dry, itchy, and painful patches on the skin and scalp.

It started when I was 14. Since then, my life has revolved around medicines, painful treatments, countless products, and lifestyle changes. Even foods I loved—like brinjal and achar—had to go because they triggered flare-ups. It’s a condition that’s isolating, both physically and emotionally.

When I moved to Bangalore for my job in 2023, I encountered something new—extremely hard water. It aggravated my psoriasis terribly, leading to flare-ups and the anxiety that comes with them. Even a tiny rash would send me into a spiral of worry. That’s when I decided enough was enough. I wanted to take control of my condition. That’s when I connected with Roshni, and we realized that our struggles were connected by hard water."

Being mechanical and chemical engineers themselves, Duhita and Roshni designed, tested, & refined filter compositions under the guidance of professors from IIT Kharagpur and IIT Kanpur. After extensive research, they developed the final composition, always prioritizing safety and quality at every step.

India ranks 120 amongst 122 countries on the Water Quality Index. Groundwater reaches showers and taps which contain contaminants such as calcium and magnesium (hardness), chlorine, iron, arsenic, to name a few.

Common Misconception - Water supplied by corporations/housing societies undergoes comprehensive treatment, including hardness removal. In reality, only basic
water purification is done, neglecting specific issues like water hardness, which impact skin/hair and home appliances longevity.

Hard water minerals like calcium & magnesium penetrate the hair & crystallize as it dries, this causes crispy feeling hair prone to breakage.

INDIRECT WAY

Hard water hampers the lathering and cleaning capabilities of your shampoo and soap, leading to chemical buildup which eventually causes hairfall. You end up using excessive shampoo to achieve the same level of cleanliness and also expose your skin to increased chemical residues.
